The Lego company began nearly 80 years ago in 1932. It is the fourth
largest toymaker in the world and is still privately owned by Kjeld
KJristiansen who is the grandson of the original founder of the
company. The well known Lego brick is still the most important product
of the company although they make many other Lego products. The Lego
brick in its present form began in 1958. Its very simple
interlocking structure makes it possible to build almost unlimited
creations based on this little brick.
The complete line of Lego products encompasses a range of items
suitable for everyone from toddlers to adults. There is also an online
Lego site DesignbyMe where you can design and build your own Lego
models with virtual bricks.
Quote from
Wikipedia: Lego (trademarked
in capitals
as LEGO) is a line of construction toys manufactured by the Lego Group,
a privately held company based in Billund, Denmark. The company's
flagship product, Lego, consists of colorful interlocking plastic
bricks and an accompanying array of gears, minifigures and various
other parts. Lego bricks can be assembled and connected in many ways,
to construct such objects as vehicles, buildings, and even working
robots. Anything constructed can then be taken apart again, and the
pieces used to make other objects. The toys were originally designed in
the 1940s in Denmark and have achieved an international
appeal,
with an extensive subculture that supports Lego movies, games, video
games, competitions, and four Lego themed amusement parks.Source:

International Space Station, where astronauts will build models and see
how they react in microgravity, as part of the Lego Bricks in Space
